Happy New Year - January 2012
Posted on 1/5/2012 by Kevin
So winter has finally arrived. I've been waiting for it because it snowed 2 inches the day I moved into my new house...and that was in October!! Luckily the weather waited until after the holidays were over and didn't ruin any plans but I saw everyone who helped me move into my new place over the holidays and was reminded of the misery of that weekend and how nice the weather had been since! When they say "Luck of the Irish" ... they don't always mean "GOOD" luck. It was a great 2011 and there's no better way to start off a new year than getting up on stage and singing some of our favorite Irish tunes. It's been a great break and we're ready to get back on stage so I hope you'll join us on Saturday January 14th at the Irish Club (AOH Division #17) and help break in the New Year...Irish style!

General Update - October 2011
Posted on 10/14/2011 by Kevin
If it rains anymore in Pittsburgh this October I will need some help building my ark. Plus it's going to be a very difficult task getting 2 of every beer and 2 shots of every Irish Whiskey inside the thing before the sh-- hits the fan. Anyway, it's been a great break and I hope everyone had a great summer. During our vacation Sean lost his tonsils, Big Jer added a cane, Brian is successfully raising his first child, Lauren schooled me on the ice during hockey, and me...I bought a house. My first house to be exact and if anyone else has recently gone throught that process...GOD BLESS YOU!! What a maze of disaster with "fees" and "lies" around every corner. It's the only process in the universe today where you have to promise to buy something before they can tell you with any certainty how much it costs! What did I just go through? It's like a haze or a dream sequence...but it's reality! Nothing can be deemed credible when one person says "this is the way it is" and the person sitting right next to them says "no it's not"....and they agree! Anyway...it's just about over and I can't wait to move in and start...I don't know....everything. I'll try and keep the Whiskey Limerick Twitter account up to date with my ups and downs of the new move. This should be interesting :-) Meanwhile...we've started getting back to the music after a nice summer break and we're going to be at the Harp and Fiddle on Friday October 21st. It's one of the greatest Irish pubs in Pittsburgh and if you haven't been there for St. Paddy's Day yet...you are missing one of the best parties of the year! Come on down and join us for a pint.

Thoughts....From Brian

(Big Yawn, rubbing eyes) Hey! Good morning everyone! So, Whiskey Limerick has woken up from it's summer nap and is well rested. We've got some new stuff to show off and I'm personally very eager to get back on stage. If you're out and about on Friday, October 21th, come on down to the Harp and Fiddle in the Strip District. We'll be hitting the stage around 9pm. Hope to see you there, and we'll be setting up some more shows soon.

Big Thank You to AOH Div #4
Posted on 6/25/2011 by Brian
Just wanted to thank everyone at AOH/LAOH Division #4 for a great day of fun. The event was good fun and the weather cooperated, which was nice. Cueball played some wonderful music and warmed up the place for us, and then danced for us during Finnegan's Wake! Ha! We're glad you asked us to play, and hope we helped in your fundraising efforts. It was nice meeting a bunch of new folks, and seeing some loyal WL fans. We'll be at the Harp and Fiddle twice in one week coming up! Check out our schedule and we'll see you at the pub!

Tornado Victims Fundraiser - June 30th - Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle - 7pm - 11pm
Posted on 6/13/2011 by Kevin
We've all read about the recent tornados that swept accross our country and we've seen the damage that they have caused in the southern states. Families without homes, missing relatives, dealing with the almost impossible thought of truly having to start all over. A lot of you may be thinking "what can I do?"...well I have an answer for you. Pittsburgh's own Terry Griffith has organized a fundraiser for these victims and their families which will take place on Thursday June 30th at Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle in the Strip District. A website has been setup for this event with all the details - Click Here To Check Out the Fundraiser Website. Irish bands from all over Pittsburgh will be there to entertain and all proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross to help the victims of these destructive tornados in the South. Our brothers and sisters in the south really need our help Pittsburgh so please come out and show your support. Even if you can't make it to the Harp and Fiddle on Thursday June 30th there is a link for donations on the event website. We thank you in advance for your help and please keep these families in your prayers as they try and recover as best as they can. Slainte Pittsburgh!

AOH Needs Your Support - June 18th
Posted on 6/9/2011 by Kevin
So what happened to Spring? It seems Pittsburgh has taken a leap from Winter right into the heat of Summer...God knows the Irish melt in this type of heat right? Anyway, we're so honored that the men and ladies' of AOH Division #4 have asked Whiskey Limerick to play at their annual fundraiser on Saturday June 18th at the Millvale Croation Center. We always like playing at new venues and getting to meet new people but this one is extra special for us because hopefully we can help make this fundraiser a success for AOH Division #4 while getting to do exactly what we love. This is a great outdoor venue with plenty of cover in case of rain and the folks at Division #4 put on a great show every year. This is a family fun event so bring the kids (including your husbands) and join Whiskey Limerick for a day of Irish entertainment. Click here for the official flier with all the details. Hope to see you all there for such a good cause. Until then Pittsburgh....Slainte!

You ready to rock Pittsburgh?? We are! We've had a great break and are ready to get back to what we love! We have a couple of great shows posted to start us off and will be continuing to update the site with new pics and movies. We've had a lot of requests to have our music available online and it shouldn't be long until that's a reality! I'm working with a few places right and Whiskey Limerick should be available on all the major outlets (iTunes, Amazon, CD Bbay, etc) very soon. In the meantime we always have them available for purchase at all of our shows for $12.00! See you around Pittsburgh and until then....Slainte!

Visions of Shamrocks Dancing In My Head

"T'was the month before Paddy's Day, and all through the house....". Ok, I know it's only the beginning of February, but I'm stoked for Paddy's Day this year. It will be the first time I get to celebrate with my firs child (even though he/she will be 2 weeks old if all goes as scheduled)!! We have an all day line-up on Parade Day and Paddy's Day Proper and we kick the weekend off with a show the night before Parade Day. We even have some new music to debut! There's a few days rest between Parade Day and Paddy's Day, so come out and join WL for some Paddy's Day Pre-game starting on Friday March 11th and get your Paddy's Day training off to a good start! Rest up though, it's gonna be a great week! Hope to see you all around town.

Thanks to All at the AOH Division 17

Well, the AOH show came and went, but not without some drama. Sean, our guitar player and song writer, was flying in from Florida that night and planned on landing around 6:30pm with a show time at 8pm(ish). Then....the dreaded delay....then...another one! Goo. . .finally his layover in Charlotte was on time and actually got him in earlier than he thought, so with the show time pushed back to around 9pm(ish), we had the full band ready to go.

Thanks to all of you who came out to the AOH last Saturday night. We always enjoy playing down there for the folks of the Irish Club and AOH Division #17 (which we are members!). It was nice to catch up with folks we haven't seen in a while, and hang out once again with our loyal WL fans. Thanks to "Griff" for running our sound board. That just makes it so much easier when we have a good sound guy. Finally, another Happy Birthday to Janet and Chrissy! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you guys and I look forward to the next time we make the trek down to the Irish Club of Monroeville, AOH Division #17.

I-Rish You a Merry Christmas
Posted on 12/3/2010 by Sean
'Tis the season to be hammered! The holidays are here and that means it's time to STOP with the hectic misery that is every day life and enjoy a pint and few a laughs with family and friends. Christmas is the one time of year where you can smile a little brighter, laugh a little harder and give without taking. Don't just celebrate the holiday, celebrate LIFE! And celebrate with US. You are the reason we do what we do and have so much fun doing it. Without your support we'd be just another drinking family with an Irish problem. Check out our schedule then come and join us for a pint and a laugh. And, from our hearts to yours, have a very Whiskey Christmas.

Big Thank You

What a good time that was on Wednesday night. A perfect night to bring in the holiday season with friends and family. Seeing new folks enjoying our music is a cool feeling and I hope to see you all at our next show. I hope you all enjoy the CD and please let us know what you thought of it when we see you next time. Hope everyone has a great holiday season.

A special HELLO FROM WHISKEY LIMERICK goes out to the three lovely ladies we met that night. You know who you are :-)

Shout Out!
Posted on 11/30/2010 by Lauren
Hello all! I just wanted to give a few shout-outs to all of those who came out to support us during our Thanksgiving Eve show! I was so happy to see all of those who made it. Of course it's always nice to see those die-hard family members who without their support we would be nowhere! I love you so much! We met some new people too and man did we have a good time at that show.

And, to my hockey coach, numerous teammates, and friends of teammates, thank you SO MUCH for making time to come down, drink, and oh yeah watch me and the guys jam. It's awesome to get to hang out outside the ice rink where it's nice and warm and have a few (dozen) beers together. Thank you all who threw tape at me on stage...next time I'm throwing it back ;) I love you all and as for my teammates, I'll see you on the ice!

Turkey Day Recovery Period
Posted on 11/29/2010 by Kevin
I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Our show at the Harp and Fiddle was the biggest surprise of my holiday. It was the day before Thanksgiving and even though I'm sure everyone had travel plans, family plans, the Pens game was on, etc...the crowd rocked the Harp on Wednesday! We had as much fun with you guys and gals on our break as we did performing on stage. Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated Turkey Day "Eve" with Whiskey Limerick.

It's funny...I must have had a bad experience when I was younger during Thanksgiving because I really do not like any of the normal food that comes along with the holiday. This may sound blasphemous but Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie...completely wasted on me. I found this to be true with one of my cousins a few years ago and we'd sit together and eat apple sauce and rolls all night...at least I wasn't the only one! Thanks Keek! Anyway, I'm still recovering from the weekend as my brother Sean decided it would be a good idea to crack open a fresh bottle of 12 Year Jameson on Saturday and play the Wii all night. I wonder if it takes 12 years to recover from that stuff...hmmmmm.

Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving...
Posted on 11/23/2010 by Brian
Well...batteries are charged and we're all geared up for the show tomorrow night. We had a great practice the other day...which means we remembered all the words (which is rare, even on stage), we added some new instruments to the set and then ended it with few brews with my band mates. After promising him for years, we finally got our drummer a wireless microphone that doesn't fall off of his head when he moves...but he'll always be our "Brittney Spears".

Hope you all come out to the show at the Harp tomorrow as it's a great night to hit the town. The Holidays are upon us, and why not spend some time with Whiskey Limerick and ring in the season on a great note. The next day is our annual "Turkey Bowl" (we'll be at Evergreen park in Monroeville at 11am if you want to join) and then later on...as expected...we'll eat like there's no tomorrow. If you're at the show, come on up and introduce yourself...or join us on stage!

Our Website Gets a Makeover
Posted on 11/20/2010 by Kevin
As you can see we're trying to finish our website. Considering everyone in the band is some type of software guru you'd think it would run smoothly but there's always something that goes wrong. We're trying to get more content on the site and eventually it will be updated with news, blogs, pictures, etc every week or so. We just started Facebook and Twitter accounts too and the gal is in charge of those so any ideas or helpful hints with the social media side of things are very welcome.

WEDO Radio Fundraiser with Diane Byrnes
Posted on 11/8/2010 by Kevin
We'd like to thank Diane Bynes for having us perform at her WEDO Radio fundraiser even "Samhain" at the Harp and Fiddle last night. She puts on a great event and of course is in costume the entire time. There was music all day Sunday and after the costume contest it was Whiskey Limerick's turn on the stage. What a great crowd!...On a Sunday evening no less! You can listen to Diane's show called "Echoes of Erin" on WEDO 810 AM every Sunday from 12:30pm-2:00pm.

Happy Anniversary Brian and Theresa!

Wanted to send a quick Happy Anniversary to our fiddle player Brian. He and his wife have been married for 5 years today! Love ya bro!

Whiskey Limerick Releases Debut Album - Weekend Superhero
Posted on 11/4/2010 by Kevin
We're finally releasing our debut album called "Weekend Superhero" in the next day or so! This has been a serious learning experience but what a ride! Thanks to everyone who has supported us and have already placed an order. We hope you enjoy it and we're already thinking of ideas for the next one...after a much needed break from the studio that is. We wanted this first one to be a mix of our favorite traditional tunes along with some Whiskey Limerick originals. I was bascially living in the studio for the past few months trying to figure out what all the knobs and switches were for Brian designed the CD from cover-to-cover and if you couldn't tell...yes...that is Sean sitting at the bar on the front cover! A big thank you goes out to Caroline Moore for allowing us to use her personal photos of us on the back cover. You can check out her work here.

Whiskey Limerick Update
Posted on 10/25/2010 by Brian
We have our CD in the mastering phase and Kev is doing a heck of a job. We're learning on the go here with some of this stuff, but it all seems to be coming together. While we wait for the mastering, I found some pics and videos of the band in recording phase, and it really took me back. The work that goes into releasing a CD is incredible, and I don't think any of us knew what we were getting ourselves into. However, in the end it seems all worth it when you witness how it all comes together. The fact that my band mates are my family members, the long hours at the recording studio (ha! recording studio. . . how about our basement) go by quickly as I get to hang out with my family. I think we laughed more than we sang during the recordings (that is, until we got tired and irritable, then we just got sick of eachother). It's a great feeling sharing all of this with those closest to you, and I really hope you all enjoy this CD as much as we do.
