The man...the myth...the legend is back in action! Big Jer is back where he belongs...on stage keepin' the beats! He was
the lead drummer for the band "The Yesterday" and a backup for "Rhombus" playing his favorite oldies but gave up his music so
he could raise his kids. Who knew it would be those same kids asking him to bring his drums back out.
His three sons
were jammin' in his basement one night and noticed their father behind the bar. "We looked up and saw him hitting a pint
glass with two pencils." They also noticed a rather large smile on his face! "Think you could play your drums to Irish music?"
we asked. |
He put down his pencils, finished his glass of Bellows bourbon (which is not for the faint of heart), stood up
from the bar, walked over to his sons and with a slight smirk on his face said "Yeah, but can you keep up?"
That's all it took! It was as if he had never put his drums away and had been playing along with us the whole time. He
also found the fountain of youth because you'd swear he is 20 years younger when he gets behind those drums! He still loves
his oldies though and is seen quite often, bourbon in hand, singing "Kansas City" or anything from the Righteous Brothers.
And of course, Whiskey Limerick throws a few of the classics into the show because who doesn't like a good oldie every now
and again?
The one thing we didn't realize was that even before we had asked him to join us up on stage, he really
had been playing along with us the whole time. He just doesn't use pencils anymore. |
