"I remember growing up as a child, on vacation with my family waiting for it to get dark outside. I loved the dark because that was when the adults started the campfire and we would all grab chairs and sit in a huge circle around it. There would be snacks, soggy from the damp night air being passed around and marshmallows that just caught fire being waved frantically because the recipient didn't want them black on the outside. The adults were constantly back and forth from the cooler yelling 'Who needs another one?' while us kids raised our hands for a well deserved courtesy laugh. It was a symphony of chaos which I never wanted to end."
"And then a faint voice was heard in the background. This was not someone yelling or laughing, no this voice was singing. Not everyone noticed at first but as more and more of us heard this voice the chaos that once was...slowly turned to quiet. And as this hush made its way around the fire the sound of this voice could be heard more clearly and then I realized...it was my cousin singing 'Bold Fenian Men' looking to my Uncle, who had taught him the song, to help him remember the last verse. You could hear random voices around the fire singing the chorus or just humming the tune. He didn't start singing in the hopes everyone would quiet down...he just felt like singing but just the sound changed the mood of the fire. After that everyone was lining up to sing a song they knew...or at least sit by someone who could help them through it. Forgotten lyrics, made up verses, laughter at the sight of feet as someone had just fallen backwards off a chair...nothing mattered and that was the whole point. As I grew up I remembered the music sung around the fire and still enjoy those nights as they come. But while sitting there I thought to myself 'I wish everyone could experience this.'

As one of the original founders of Whiskey Limerick Kevin began playing at local pubs with his twin brother Brian simply because someone asked them to one day. So they borrowed some (not so sound) sound equipment, plugged in two guitars and after that first gig realized..."we shouldn't quit our day jobs!" They immediately put their guitars on eBay just so they could say they got paid to play music! But before the bidding war began they received a phone call and were asked to play again..."Hey Bri...put a hold on eBay...we're gonna need those things one more time!" The more the two brothers played the more they realized how much fun it was to share the music they had grown up listening to. After a while his brother Brian decided to trade in his guitar for a fiddle. Kevin was asked "How was it living with your brother when he first picked up the fiddle?" Kevin paused for a moment...tried to muster up a smile and did his best impression of his brother playing the fiddle for the first time. The sound he made caused three children who were near to start crying and the crystal wine glass at the end of bar shattered. "It was like that!" he said as Brian laughed his ass off next to him. Not long after, the jigs and reels were taking the place of missed notes and it was a whole new ball game...thus became the founders of Whiskey Limerick.

As lead vocalist and guitarist for newly founded Whiskey Limerick Kevin's energy on stage is contagious. Whether on the guitar, harmonica or just singing into the mic he puts on the same show whether there are five or five hundred people in the audience. He's always getting the crowd into the shows and if you're willing, he will even have you up on stage to sing with him. "Watching the crowd have as much fun as I do on stage...there is no place I'd rather be."
